Match & coarse fishing can be done in several ways. The two most common methods are with the fixed rod or with the feeder rod.
Fishing with a pole rod or 'fixed pole' is the ideal way to start fishing. It is easy, you don't need much equipment and you learn the most important fishing techniques. As a beginner, it is easiest to start with a 3 - 5 metre rod, attach a rig, attach some maggots to the hook, throw some groundbait in the water and wait.
If you want to fish in a more professional way, you can choose a longer crossing rod of about 8 to 15 metres. These rods are available separately or in a pack with elastic, extra topsets and cupping kits.
Do you prefer to fish for larger match & coarse fish such as bream, carp, big roach? Then fishing with the feeder rod is a very nice and effective method. The ideal feeder set consists of a rod of 3.60m to 3.90m with a reel size 4000-6000 on it.
The feeder assembly consists of a feed basket with a leader of about 80 cm long attached to it. Bite registration is done using the feeder tip as opposed to the float on a pole rod.
